After the coronavirus completely spiked the 2021 Fly Fishing Show season, the 2022 show schedule went off mostly as planned, with the exception of the postponement of the Marlborough, Massachusetts show from January to April. This year, organizers are no doubt hopeful that the 2023 show schedule will proceed as planned, without any interruptions from new variants or case load spikes. The 2023 slate of venues was released earlier this week, with the show making scheduled stops at familiar locations across the country.
This year's tour will feature six venues north to south, east to west from Massachusetts to California, Denver to Atlanta, across the United States beginning Jan. 20 and concluding March 5.
“While each site and each show is unique to the community and region, they will all feature non-stop fly fishing seminars, casting demonstrations, classes with experts, fly tying, displays of the newest rods, reels, clothing, gear and accessories; vacation destinations, conservation organizations, films, and hands-on educational experiences,” said Ben Furimsky, Fly Fishing Show president and CEO.
For many, the annual stops of the show are as much a community event as they are an opportunity to test cast rods, take in seminars, hunt for hard-to-find tying supplies and so on — as the show is one of the only events that bring together everyday anglers, celebrated experts and professionals, and industry brands both small and large all under one roof.
The 2023 show tour will kick off in January in Marlborough, Massachusetts and wrap up with its usual early March stop in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The tour's stop in Atlanta, Georgia is also being expanded this year. For the first time ever, Atlanta will host the Fly Fishing Show for a full three-day weekend exhibition. The full tour schedule is as follows:
- Marlborough, Mass. – Jan. 20, 21, and 22 at Royal Plaza Trade Center
- Edison, NJ – Jan. 27, 28, and 29 at New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center
