The Mohair Leech is a simple, yet deadly pattern. The fibers give great movement in the water. Besides imitating a leech, it can also represent a variety of other trout food.

Fish this the same way you would a Woolly Bugger. Experiment with color combinations and sizing.

HOOK: streamer hook
THREAD: depends on size of hook 6/0 to 2/0
BEAD: Rainbow
TAIL: marabou feather
BODY: mohair yarn (2 colors)

Step 1: After placing bead on hook, make smooth wraps with the thread.

Step 2: Tie in the marabou. The length of the tail should be equal to the hook shank.

Step 3: Secure the rest of the marabou on the hook up to behind the bead, then trim off.

Step 4: Cut off piece of the first mohair yarn and tie in.

Step 5: Fluff the yarn as you wrap it up the hook, about 2/3 of the way.

Step 6: Next, tie in the 2nd

Step 7: Again, fluff the yarn as you wrap the mohair up to the bead. Whip finish.

Step 8: If you need more fluff, use a small brush and gently brush it out.
