With tremendous populations of impressively sized fish and crystal clear waters surrounded by a dynamic, breathtaking landscape; the Colorado's South Platte river is widely regarded as the state's premier fishery, as well as one of the premier fisheries in the country. The South Platte, en route to Denver, flows through a number of lakes and reservoirs, dividing the river into distinct sections. With around 6,000 steelhead crossing the Bonneville Dam every day, steelhead season on the Oregon and Washington tributaries of the Columbia River is heating up fast. The recent drop in water temps have made for better fishing as of late. Skaters are coming into play in the mornings though you're better off fishing a wet in the evenings. The sink-tip bite in the mid-day has been strong until around 3:00pm.

I spent another few hours out fishing another of northeast Pennsylvania's small freestone streams. Fishing was cut short by a severe thunderstorm that forced a 2 mile hike out in a torrential downpour. With no waterproof storage, the gear is lucky to have survived.
