Sage METHOD Series of Fly Rods
The new Sage METHOD series.

If you've recently found yourself out on the water casting one of the fast action fly rods in Sage's ONE series, musing to yourself about how you wish it were even faster, muse no more. Sage announced today its new METHOD fly rod series, which it describes as a blend of "ultra-fast action" and technology.

The new METHOD series, like the ONE series and other rods throughout Sage's lineup, is built on Sage's Konnetic technology. According to Sage, the new METHOD series produces "high line speeds and tight loops for extreme distance and wind-cutting casts all while maintaining critical accuracy and feel."

“Being able to offer fly rods that perform to the expectations of the most demanding anglers in any casting situation is the main reason behind designing the METHOD. Sage’s DNA is synonymous with fast-action rods, and through Konnetic technology, we’ve taken seriously smooth, ultra-fast action performance to a new place entirely,” commented Sage Chief Rod Designer, Jerry Siem.

In its press release, Sage notes that the METHOD won't be for everyone, indicating that the ONE will continue to be the flagship series for the widest range of anglers. That said, Siem noted that the new METHOD series "will make any caster better but will help experienced casters notch exceptional casts with regularity.” Sage's marketing manager Eric Gweiss added, "if anglers are looking for an ultra-fast action rod that is lightweight, exceptionally smooth yet has the extra punch for farther casts and windy conditions, this rod is for you.”

The METHOD series will contain 12 single-hand models, available in 4-6 weights for freshwater and 6-11 weights for saltwater. 9 spey and switch models will also be available. Expect pricing to range from $800-$1,050, hitting the streets come August 1, 2013.

Blanks will also be available.
